Fall
Red leaves gently fall down, softly landing on the frosty grass. Chilly winds blow through the trees, and cold rain drizzles down through the bleak clouds. It is that time of year again, fall. Fall is many things. For
me, this is what fall is: Fall is All Hallows Eve, where I carve pumpkins, dress up, and go trick-or-treating. I always feel my bag growing heavier and heavier, under the load of the candy, until I have to drop off all of the treats at my house, and start filling up my bag once more. Every year, I get lots of candy and chocolate. Sometimes I get so much that it usually lasts me until next Halloween. Fall is trees that have scattered their leaves across the ground in piles of red, orange, and yellow. I like raking up all the leaves into one pile, just to jump in and send all the leaves flying in different directions, scattering them among the countless others. To me, fall is Thanksgiving, when the sweet smell of turkey fills the air, and I eat Thanksgiving dinner with my family. Even after the celebration is over, there is still the three day weekend, where I have lots of time to invite my friends over, and have a good time at home. Picking apples with my parents and my sister, and seeing my dog bound through piles of leaves are also some of my favourite memories of fall. Fall is watching movies, curled up on the couch, sipping hot chocolate, because the weather is too wet and cold in order to do anything outside. White frost and cold rain is what fall is. Naked trees and chilled wind, with hail beating down on everything outside, signals the end of fall, and the beginning of winter, and as the days grow shorter, fall slowly slips away, as quickly, and as silently as it came.
Learning Intention: I can create a personal piece of writing that uses descriptive language that paints a portrait, starts with a strong lead and focuses on one main idea.
What I Learned: I learned how to use descriptive language to make a powerful piece of writing.
