This is all my poetry that I put in my final project:
Learning Intention: I can create poems which use poetic devices and follow specific forms.
Ode to Pencils
The awesome power of the pencil!
Your sharp point never stops, scribbling down doodles or detailed pictures
Several swift strokes can create a masterpiece,
Bringing joy to my heart.
Others think of you as a sign of work,
Raining doom down upon helpless students,
But I find you as a tool to create,
and unleash your creativity upon paper after paper!

Several swift strokes can create a masterpiece,
Bringing joy to my heart.

Raining doom down upon helpless students,

Haiku
A small icy drop
Falls upon a strand of silk
Sliding on silver
They slowly drift down
Falling with countless others
Freezing to the touch

Falls upon a strand of silk
Sliding on silver
They slowly drift down
Falling with countless others
Freezing to the touch
Shoes
I have sweaty feet thrust into me,
I am pounded down upon everything
Dancing through rock, dirt, and grass,
In puddles I am splashed.
Finally at the end of the day,
I reek of foul substances, Ewww!
I am thrown among others,
Until the morrow,
When everything starts again!
I have sweaty feet thrust into me,
I am pounded down upon everything
Dancing through rock, dirt, and grass,
In puddles I am splashed.
Finally at the end of the day,
I reek of foul substances, Ewww!
I am thrown among others,
Until the morrow,
When everything starts again!
French Fries
I breathe in a heavenly aroma
The long stick, like a thin strip of gold
I bite into its greasy flesh
The salty taste fills my watering mouth,
Making my taste buds smile
This is my favourite food,
The wonderful french fry
I breathe in a heavenly aroma
The long stick, like a thin strip of gold
I bite into its greasy flesh
The salty taste fills my watering mouth,
Making my taste buds smile
This is my favourite food,
The wonderful french fry
The Long Path
A long path lies before us all
If you become frightened,
And wander away,
You will go astray
If friends bring you one way,
But they do not know the path,
Turn away from them,
They are not true friends
Even amid all these perils,
If you stay strong, the path will be clear,
And you will find the reward drawing near
Continue on the road,
You have made it,
The prize is here!
A long path lies before us all
If you become frightened,
And wander away,
You will go astray
If friends bring you one way,
But they do not know the path,
Turn away from them,
They are not true friends
Even amid all these perils,
If you stay strong, the path will be clear,
And you will find the reward drawing near
Continue on the road,
You have made it,
The prize is here!
What I learned: I learned that poetry can be fun and that I am actually quite good at it. I also learned after making this project, that if you don't try to rush everything through as soon as you get it, and actually put more effort into it, you can get a much better mark than before.
Poems not in my final project:
This is a concrete poem that I made about a bow and arrow.
What I enjoyed: My favourite part of making this poem was finding all of the pieces of writing and words in the magazine and cutting out letters to spell words that I could not find.
